February has been flying by and I have been quite busy as usual. Coming up is some fun travel I can’t wait to share. But, so far this month has included the excitement of coming close to a hole in one, dinner with friends sitting at a chef’s table for an eight course meal, and a quilt show of the only in Florida variety, with colorful quilts hanging from palm trees and gulf breezes making them move about. The weather has been nothing short of lovely and winter in Florida is just the best.
On a sad note, all day yesterday, I still felt the shock and sadness of knowing that a place I love more than any other place was violated by senseless violence. As CNN was mentioning all the places on campus that are so tied into my memories it was a lot to process. But, the MSU community is strong and often described as a family. It will take some time to heal and hopefully some good will come from such evil. I have to believe that.
So much to process in your blog this morning. Extreme happiness, (the "almost" hole in one), meals with friends, gorgeous quilts fluttering in the breeze. And then to read about the violence at MSU. I hadn't heard about it until your post. I rarely watch the news because I just can't take the constant heartache. I know, I know, it's like burying my head in the sand. But about a year and a half ago I just couldn't take anymore. I was worrried about everything and none of it was in my control. So, I shut off the news as much as I could. Things still filter through and I eventually hear about most things, like the war, earthquakes and unfortunately, shootings. But it's at a slower rate that I can process and not constant bombardment. Maybe it's silly, but at least I can cope with it that way. Well, as much as anyone can cope with the awful things happening.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed day my friend. Enjoy that beautiful Florida weather. We're expecting some snow later today but only a couple of inches forecast. Which means we could have a foot! :-)
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I turn it off sometimes too. It’s good for your mental health because it’s one bad thing after another lately.

Wow - I know the golf outings offer a car as a prize sometimes but get insurance just in case. You beat the odds!
DeleteI had to go back and look again at the ball, I hadn't noticed the almost hole-in-one! Pretty exciting! What happened on the MSU campus is heartbreaking. Such a difficult tragedy.
ReplyDeleteIt’s been a tough week for those who love that campus.
DeleteThe world is upside down for sure. We hardly pause anymore for tragedies that have become regular occurrences, which is so sad. I hope you're going somewhere wonderful!
