I have written many posts about both my old book club in Michigan and my new book club here in Florida. The groups are very different and I still miss my close knit Michigan group where we met for dinner at each other’s homes. It’s not quite the same with a neighborhood group that meets at a clubhouse, but also, a great way to get to know new friends on another level. Either way, I get to indulge my book worm tendencies and not only read books that I may not normally read, but discuss them as well.
I missed the first discussion, but hope to make the rest as we work our way through covid restrictions (smaller size) and the late return of our seasonal residents who are waiting a bit longer to travel.
Below are the books we are reading and discussing over the next few months and if you would like to read along, I am always up for your opinions via comments or email.
Happy Reading!
The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See
Radium Girls by Kate Moore
Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver
Women in Sunlight by Frances Mayes
The Giver of The Stars by JoJo Moyes
The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Chrissy Lefter
I am taking a beach trip soon, a book will be in my bag. I need to slow down and do more reading. Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a terrific list. I hope you share your thoughts on them!
ReplyDeleteOur book club read The Giver of Stars and it was very good. We all enjoyed it. I'm going to take note of your other books as we haven't met yet to pick our books for this year... if we even get to meet! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOur club just met for the first time this year around our neighborhood pool. I will pass these titles along as suggestions. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMissing October in Florida for so many reasons but enjoying all that Michigan offers in the Fall. Loved “Ozarks”, every episode I would think to myself, just enter the witness protection program. I just finished “Ratched” it is a prequel to Nurse Ratched from “ One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. I will send you an article about the series. Look forward to seeing you soon Vicki.
ReplyDeleteI have not ever been in a book club.
ReplyDeleteI think I would like it . . . at this time of life.
In fact, I think I might like joining a book club where I know no one.
Not sure how they usually get started, think I will pursue.
JoJo Moyes book will probably be my first read.
Just had a thought, a ZOOM BOOK CLUB??
I have been in a book club for years! I wish I were in one. Your books are all excellent choices.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection, Vicki... Can't wait to hear your reviews.
