I am finally ready to start the update of my guest bathroom. It is a small half bath that desperately needs some basic renovation and I will be doing it on a small budget. The flooring and cabinet will remain, but I hope to work some design magic with paint, new lighting, faucets (I want a waterfall style) and color.
My color palette will be blue, grey and white, though I have not decided on the exact shades. For inspiration, I have been pinning a few photos to a Pinterest board and am deciding between a dark or lighter grey for the cabinet and a deep or light blue for the walls. I will be making use of white trim for the existing mirror and possibly adding some molding to the walls.
As always with renovation, there is a fine line with how much value can be achieved from an update. We are empty nesters with a home we will be looking to put on the market in a few years. I think with these design details, a lot of sellable value can be achieved. It's time to strip the final room of its wallpaper and bring some new pretty in.

Good luck with the renovations. They always say for resale go with light colors, but I've seen dark gray rooms that I absolutely love! Blue is a favorite color of mine, too, in many different shades. Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretties:) Can't wait to watch the transformation! Have a blessed day, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your finished project. All those ideas you posted are truly lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this Vicki . . .
ReplyDeleteI am doing some updates to our home, subtle changes but important ones in case we decide to make a move change in the next five years. I find it inspiring to do the work myself . . . .(I guess I will let my hubs help a bit . . .) Updating in color and design can make a big difference.
We're in the middle of a major renovation of our main upstairs bathroom. It's all about compromise between the vision, the budget and the limitations of the existing bathroom. One more week and it will all be done (wait for the big reveal!!).
ReplyDeleteI like bathroom remodels because it is a small room and you can achieve a lot with a little! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMyself, I vote for the lighter shade of gray. Darker shades of gray are too dark, but maybe that's just me. And you'd rather have people notice a subdued shade of blue along with the gray rather than have an overall dark effect. Of course, a light blue will help keep it cheerful. The sample pictures remind me a lot of the French Provincial style my mother liked a lot.
