Saturday night was a special night at our club. It was the night of the annual Clambake and one of those events that we try to never miss, if we can help it. We had a big group this year and it was luckily a beautiful early fall night to spend outside, with dinner under a tent and dancing under the stars.
The night starts with pre dinner cocktails and some fun games with prizes awarded to the winners. One of the most popular games that is always a hit, is the crab races. You pick the color of crab you think might win and with the help of some squirting water, the crabs race across the floor of an inflated pool. It makes for silliness and laughter, but fits the tropical theme of the evening.
Dinner includes a buffet, with pulled park, shrimp, salmon and too many other side dishes to name. And, the stars of the night; the lobster, mussels and clams, are brought right to the table. We enjoyed sitting around our big table, savoring every bite of the delicious meal. The dessert; pineapple upside down cake, was the perfect ending and fit the dinner theme perfectly.
As the night continued, there were big screen televisions set up in side by side tents to watch the two important college football games of the night. There was much loud cheering, but unfortunately both MSU and U of M did not win their games.
The band continued to play throughout and the dancing continued long into the night, under the bright moon and stars. We were the last on the dance floor and the last to leave. It was a great night spent with good friends.
Happy Monday!
What a fabulous evening. Our club hosts several nights throughout the year with entertainment, but not food (it is bring your own). Yes, hubby cried when he saw the UofM score!!

It sound like a beautiful (and delicious!) evening other than the football games. But, as you know, I'm glad that the U of M game turned out as it did!
