We celebrated by daughter Megan's 24th birthday on Sunday and were thrilled to have both girls home to mark the occasion. As your children get older, it is not uncommon to be apart from them on their actual birthday, so we will appreciate this day for the blessing that it is. Instead of sending her flowers, I was able to give her a hug, watch her open her presents and blow out the candles on the cake I made for her.
Happy 24th Birthday Megan - you are a wonderful daughter and an amazing young woman. This will be an exciting year - I can feel it :-)
The cake was a Chocolate Covered Cherry bundt cake - very easy and really delicious. This blog has a list of 100 different flavors of bundt cake and I want to try them all. Here is the recipe for the Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake and the only change I made was to use dark chocolate frosting. It really did taste like a chocolate covered cherry from our favorite up north Michigan store - Cherry Republic.
Happy Monday!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your lovely daughter.
ReplyDeleteCake looks Fantastic. Once we finish off our chocolate cake I will be making this one. Hubby has a sweet tooth so I always have some sort of dessert made for him. Only thing is, I make individual bundt cakes.
Thanks for sharing the bundt cake link. So many I would like to make.
Enjoy your day
I know what you mean about not begin with the kids on their actual birthday. It's hard being away from them as they celebrate life's milestones without you. But always wonderful to be able to share some time together around their actual big days. Recently I drove into Toronto (2 1/2 hours) just to have dinner with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. It was a long drive, but worth it to be around her and her partner to celebrate,.
ReplyDeleteIt's so special to be a part of their birthdays:) I'm glad you all had fun and the cake looks delicious. Happy Birthday to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteMy son will be 21 next week and my daughter 26! Yikes! She lives in Seattle and will come home in May to celebrate her birthday! When they were little, I had so much fun with their birthday parties. What a pretty package! It looks like you had so much fun.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Megan...The cake looks wonderful...
