After finally finishing the painting of my laundry room (YAY!) and as I was hanging things on the walls again, I decided to do a quick change to my fall window topper. Last year I used pumpkin, berry and autumn leaf garland to create an easy topper, but wanted something with a little more structure and a natural element.
I headed to Michaels to see what would inspire me and found some natural looking branches that I thought would work. They had a lot of glittery branches, ready for some holiday sparkle, but that was not the look I was going for here. You could easily go to the woods and gather your own bunch of branches too, but it was a cold rainy day and it was expedient (and warmer) to purchase some.
To make the window topper, I simply cut the branches to the length I wanted, and then wound some leftover fall garland through the branches, securing it as I went along by wrapping the wire around loose branches. To secure everything together and to give some stability when hanging, I tied some sweet bows with twine and burlap all along the length of the branches.
It is absolutely impossible to get a good photo of the window topper hanging in my laundry room, but you can see a corner view of how it looks here. It is the perfect seasonal change to the window I have a lot of fun changing throughout the year, as the mood strikes me.
Have a great day!

It's so frustrating when pictures don't show things as well as you think they should, right? That being said, I think the window topper looks great. I love the sort of tousled, rustic look of it. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about shooting a small area like that - I tried to take a shot of my valance in the guest bathroom. No matter which way I did it, there was a shadow.
ReplyDeleteThat window treatment looks great - fabulous for a laundry room. Do you switch it for every season? Cool idea!
It's always fun to refresh things every now and then. Love the addition of the new branches! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
