Last night, my family had the privilege of attending a ceremony that honored alumni football players of note at my father's high school. Growing up, we had always heard the stories about what a great athlete my father was, back in his high school and college days. This was the first time we were able to experience his glory days with him and were grateful for this chance to be there.
As the alumni were introduced, we were especially proud, when my father was noted as " the greatest athlete the high school had ever produced" and his accomplishments were listed - all state, player at Michigan State University and player in the Canadian Football league.
My father is a quiet man and is not one to speak of his accomplishments, so we were all so happy to be there to hear his accolades and to support him. I think he looks pretty good, for an alumnus of the class of 1953 :-)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Precious moments shared with your Dad! Love it that you got to be there:) Have a blessed day dear Vicki, HUGS!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to your father! Both my parents and my sister went to MSU also (my dad was class of 1954). Sadly, my father died when I was in college. You are so lucky to have your father with you - enjoy every minute of your time with him! xoxo

ReplyDeleteVery fun night for you! The teenagers at the game don't always look down the road at their long term future, so events like this are priceless lessons for them. Life is a journey - live it well. Like your Dad.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful experience to share with your father! Congratulations to him! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your father and your family. What a wonderful way to recognize his talents and the talents of the other alumni. He obviously passed down his love of sports to you and I'm glad you have that and this ceremony to share with him. Ann
