Daisies

Daisies are an old fashioned flower that remind me of simpler times. They don't need to be in a fancy bouquet, but rather, just a bunch, in a special vase or perhaps a mason jar.

In the language of flowers, daisies are a symbol of innocence and purity.

The soft white petals with their cheerful yellow center bring thoughts of summer and days filled with sunshine. Perhaps the memory of a childhood game, where each petal meant he loves me or he loves me not.

They bloom, somewhat wild, in cottage gardens and perennial borders. A splash of white amidst their more colorful neighbors in the flower bed.

Daisies in simple bouquets, fill my house this time of year, making me smile.

Happy Wednesday!

  16. I'm enjoying my shasta daisies right now even though it's too hot to sit in the garden and stare at them. I'll have to head out and grab a bunch for the kitchen table so that I can enjoy them.

  20. Hi, I'm Debby visiting from My Favorite Things. The daisies are absolutely wonderful...also one of my favorites. I am always drawn to them, even the ones that grow wild along side of the road. I had daisies as one of the main flowers in my wedding bouquet many years ago. Love your post about them. I'd love to have you visit me!

    Have a great weekend!

  23. Daisies are my favorite flower - I carried them in my wedding. I have several little daisy plants around the yard, but have never had any luck with the tall shastas. Maybe now that I am retired and have the time to love them.
