I have been taking advantage of our beautiful spring weather and doing a little bit of primping on my front porch. I still like the subtle colors of spring and won't be using the bright reds, pinks and others summer colors until I plant my annuals in late May. Yes, we still have a ways to go here in the north, before it is safe to plant. But, there are some things we can do to give some seasonal pop to the outside.
This wreath is something I made a few years ago and I like the simplicity and softness of the daffodils.
One type of flower that we can safely plant, are pansies. These white pretties with their yellow centers are a nice cheerful start to my planting and give a welcoming touch to the porch.
An iron table in the corner is a pretty spot for a rustic wreath that I dressed up a bit with some burlap ribbon and some soft pink twine. Subtle, but pretty. And I love the contrast of the rustic, with the modern element this green glass ball provides.
After a long winter, it felt so good to do a little decorating on my porch and to just be outside. Most of these details will move elsewhere and change soon, but for now, it is just the touch of spring my porch needs.
Happy Wednesday!

That looks so pretty. I have white pansies and a grapevine wreath on my porch as well. I have been thinking of decorating my wreath a little bit and you have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteI love the white pansies. We haven't planted here yet either, but may try to do a few pots this weekend. Technically we're advised to wait until after Mother's Day, but it's so close : )
ReplyDeleteLove it...I'm so ready to put some color after a long gray winter! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAfter the long winter, spring has burst upon me and I'm planting early garden veggies. I haven't even touched the front porch. You've inspired me to get at it!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, You have a lovely Spring porch. Here in GA, we plant pansies in Sept. and they last until late May before the sun gets too hot for them.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great day.
Those white pansies are so pretty!! I just planted a pot full of assorted purples and blues! I hope spring decides to stick around for awhile!
ReplyDeleteLove the wreath. White pansies are hard to find in Texas. they are so pretty! Have a great day, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteThese are such sweet spring touches, Vicki! I love white pansies, too. And the simple wreaths...perfect. My porch could use a little love right now, too!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
How lovely to see a bit of spring on your porch. We are all longing for that reluctant season!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking lovely, Vicki! Pansies are so cute - their "faces" make me smile. Ann
ReplyDeleteFun to come by your place - I always love it when I find other "empty nesters" who are blogging! Love your touches of spring. My favorite month of the year - although we are having a very crazy day here in NE today - sleet and snow.
ReplyDeletePansies and a spruced up porch are always so welcome after a long winter. I love your solid white pansies... I just planted a couple of pots of solid yellow and they make me smile. ~~ Karen
ReplyDeleteIt sure does feel good to finally be able to put things out, even if they are just pansies. Nothing makes me happier than to see them in the garden. Your porch must be a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy the day. Love the rustic wreath - I'll have to dig out my grapevine wreath I made last year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weather, my friend. I sure am!! And I have the sore muscles from gardening to prove it!
Beautiful spring touches Vicki. Pansies are everywhere and they are "safe" to plant..just in case our temps dip back down into the thirties. Apparently we have a warm weekend forecast with about 80 degrees in the forecast! That's unusual for us..so everyone will be out soaking up the sunshine! Enjoy your day and have a nice weekend ahead.

How beautiful! I am so ready to start planting, but it actually snowed here this morning - in May! I'm hoping to get things out by Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty, Viki. I'm glad the weather turned and that you could get outside to enjoy the beauty. I love pansies. We have them in the flowerbeds, and in Florida, they can pretty much weather the winter. But they are fast getting to the point that the heat is not their friend. They are my favorite flower.
ReplyDeleteDropping by from Claudia's to share your favorite thing!
XO,
Sheila
Your wreath and pansies are so pretty. I imagine you like spending time on your porch. Sending wishes for a fun weekend.
ReplyDeletePorches are truly an additional room for our homes. Isn't it wonderful to be outdoors once again?! I love it! We're in Ontario and the weather this week has been divine...
ReplyDeleteLove the white pansies! I might just have to plant some of those myself. I usually think of the purple and yellow pansies but your white ones are beautiful -- I'll have to look for them.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel good to be decorating outdoors? Yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week.
