- My daughter had a sleepover for her birthday last night. We've had hundreds of sleepovers throughout the years, between the two girls. It doesn't matter if they are ten years old or nineteen; if there are two friends or ten or a whole brownie troop - when there are girls giggling and talking - it is loud (but fun).
- I am looking forward to my book club starting again in September. I have been reading a lot this summer, but I enjoy the picks from book club friends, because usually it is a book I would not pick out myself. I end up finding new authors and surprising myself with loving a book I didn't think I would. Right now, I am reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness and will be reading the sequel next. It is filled with historical detail and I am enjoying the juxtaposition of modern day Oxford University with the ancient study of Alchemy and witchcraft rituals. The main character is a reluctant witch, with linage dating to the Salem Witch Trials.
- I am finding myself uninterested in the reality television shows I have been watching for years. Between the Olympics and baseball and reading good books, there is always something more interesting than the same petty arguments between the same interchangeable housewives. I'm sure at some point, I will be back watching, but the break is good for me this summer. Do any of you feel the same?
- It is coming up on the time for my bloodwork to test how I am doing controlling my Type 2 Diabetes. I feel like I have been doing great and since my medication was adjusted, I am hoping for good numbers. The big test for me is the A1c (3 month average glucose test). Still, it is hard to go in knowing you have done your best, but there is so much out of your control. Such is the day to day life of a diabetic :-)

Linking with life of love today.
I totally am no longer interested in Real Housewives (and I used to looove OC and NY). I don't know why, maybe it's because they don't seem truly happy? Who knows.
ReplyDeleteI miss sleepovers...

I know the feelings that accompany empty nest and they are painful at times. Having been a Mom with an empty nest for several years...I will share one of the best parts...GRANDCHILDREN! I have two and one more on the way. My sons didn't marry until they were in their 30s so I waited a long time to experience the new joy of having children back in my life.
I wish you the very best in this journey we call "Motherhood"!
Blessings,
Carolynn
