My friend's annual lobster party is definitely a tradition that all of us look forward to. Besides the fresh lobster flown in from Maine and all the delicious side dishes and desserts that everyone brings to share, the real fun of the evening is catching up with old friends after a busy summer.
We ask ourselves why we don't all get together more often and there are no obvious answers, besides daily life getting in the way. But, it sure was good to chat here and there with friends that mean the world to you and hold all those memories of the times when our children were young and we were all doing life together.
It was a hard year for our hostess and she considered skipping the party this year, but in the end, I think she was glad she continued the tradition. It was a tradition started by her father, who passed away just a few months ago and his presence was definately felt throughout the night. I think that was a comfort to her and we rallied around her whenever she felt blue.
There is really nothing in the world like an evening spent with old friends.
Happy Monday!

What fun! This reminds me of the annual Lobster Races held in downtown Aiken, SC. Glad your friend kept up the tradition for all of you. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a fun get together. And yes, sometimes it's best to carry on and work through the grief with good times and friends.
ReplyDeleteSo true . . . So true . . ,
ReplyDeleteI bet her Dad was smiling from heaven, happy that she kept the tradition going!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. I'm glad she kept the tradition going. That's what tradition is all about...the next generation carrying it forward. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was probably really good for her to continue with the party and I hope the tradition lives on. It will be such a blessing for her. Glad it was a good evening with good friends and good food!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great party theme! I'm sure that the support of old friends made all the difference for the hostess.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn’t want to use Microsoft and offline document tools, because it won’t let you sync your content and ideas readily, and then it is really time for you to switch to Google Docs new technology which is the same as any other document tool but better because you can use it from online. strikethrough in google docs There are apps-based versions for this as well but more importantly, this is free to use so you just need to create a Google account then either open your mobile browser or desktop browser or even the app version to get started with writing the content that you like.
