Baked Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts

One of my favorite gifts that I received for Christmas (and that I had asked for) was a doughnut pan. I loved the idea of baking my own doughnuts at home, because I knew I could make low sugar or sugar free versions of all the yummy recipes I had seen on Pinterest. I wondered if this would be something that would really work at home and was very pleasantly surprised when I made my first batch over the holiday week.

The doughnuts came right out of the pan and were crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I used Truvia for both baking and dipping because it has the same consistency as regular sugar. There are so many delicious sounding doughnut recipes to try and I even put together a separate Doughnut! Pinterest board.

This recipe for Baked Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts was a simple one to start with, but when I make it again I would double the recipe to give me more batter to work with and thicker doughnuts. I think fresh out of the oven, guilt free doughnuts in the morning will be a fun winter baking project.

Happy Wednesday!
