Saturday night's full moon; or super moon as it was being called, was the backdrop for a beautiful evening, spent with friends, on the Detroit River.
We enjoyed cocktails in these lovely adirondack chairs early in the evening, watching the sailboats leave for their sunset sail and enjoying the view of the river from the yacht club deck. The sight of Canada, just across the river is always lovely to see and amazingly close.
As the sun began to set on the river, the view of the Detroit skyline in the distance became softer in focus and the sky started to glow with the light early evening brings. The problems in Detroit are many and varied, but all is forgotten on a night like this.
As we moved to the table for dinner, so close to the water, we could almost touch it, the full moon made an appearance. It was a almost magical, shining bright on the water and on us; friends sharing stories, good food and good wine on a lovely summer night.
Happy Tuesday!

Hi Vicki, Everyone looks so beautiful and relaxed and the views are exquisite! What a fun evening. Sometime it's good to just "escape."
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! What a lovely evening, Vicki. Magical. Wanted to let you know also that I made your Watermelon martinis last evening (I'd made them last summer too.) They were great!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Beth
We also spent the super moon night by the water on Lake Huron with friends - we had dinner on their boat, then went up to the top deck of the marina to watch the sun set over the water. Then turned our eyes east to the magnificent moon. Troubles were far away indeed!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great bunch of friends and a wonderful time! We had a bonfire and I also blogged about the moon in day 39 of my blog of empty nest summer new challegnes. There is something majical and romantic about the moon. cindymarie-emptynest-challegne.blogstop.com.
