Before I begin the process of documenting the new, I wanted to show you the things I like about my kitchen and what I am keeping. First, I love my Corian countertops that we put in a few years ago. They are a dark gray with flecks of white, black and tan and a great natural looking neutral for anything I want to do.
The floor is a light wood that after many years, I still love. It has a cottage feel that will go well with the modern, French Country look, I hope to achieve.
I painted the cabinets several years ago using a color called Cottage White from Behr. They turned out great and have held up well over the years, with just a few touch ups here and there.
I love my metal Bakers Rack from Pier One. It is fun to decorate for all the holidays and holds many other dishes and pottery pieces that are special to me.
My new white dishes that I purchased this past spring, are perfect for the new look too. I will be adding other white dishes, both decorative and practical.
This whimsical chicken that has been sitting on my table, will also find a new home in the updated kitchen.
So, as you see my kitchen has good bones and just needs the fun kind of updates like paint, lighting and decor. Hopefully I can make some decisions about those in the next few days - I am off to the stores today to try and pick some things out :-)
Have a great weekend!
Great start! And yes, each of those things are so easy to decorate around. I know everyone loves their granite countertops, but I personally love my Corian ones as well. Worry free.
ReplyDeleteLove your bones...LOL You were so smart to use so many neutrals that can be changed over and over with simple additions. What fun you are going to have picking out new things.

ReplyDeleteIt's great that you have such a great starting off point with the newer cabinets, counter tops and flooring. I can't wait to see how it all falls into place!

You're off to a great start with the neutrals you have already! Love the white cabinets - how about changing the knobs to an oiled bronze look? That would give it a new look.
ReplyDeleteI just left my white cabinets and stainless knobs...love that look..I now have that old yellowish oak with black appliances..I'm getting used to it but wouldn't be my choice..
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, I am looking forward to seeing what you pick out for your kitchen. I will be doing some updating in my kitchen over the winter. I want to paint the cabinets and add some moldings and wainscoting. I'm sure I will get some inspiration from you. Enjoy your shopping trip!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love what you have to work with! Can't wait to see your kitchen when you are finished with the changes:) Have a blessed evening, HUGS!
