Repurpose A Mirror

This mirror has been at the back of my closet for a while, as I considered how I could repurpose it for my bedroom. I liked the texture of the wicker and the color would work as is, since we have a mixture of brushed silver and nickel hardware on the dressers and lamps.

My idea was to add some burlap, a wooden initial and some pretty metal filigree accents that I found at Michaels. The different textures and materials would give it a unique finish.

The same idea could work with any old frame or mirror. To make, I simply removed the mirror from its frame, spray painted a letter with a matte, nickel finish and covered a piece of heavy cardboard with burlap and stapled it to the back of the frame. Once assembled, I simply used a hot glue gun to attach both the initial and the metal filigree to the burlap.

Using the foundation of a old mirror or frame and repurposing it with a unique touch, is an inexpensive and fun way to add some new decor. I think it looks great with the green and metallic tones found in my master bedroom.

Have a great day!
