No Sew Burlap Table Runner

Due to an unfortunate circumstance between my puppy and my sewing machine cord (chewed), I started looking for how to make a pretty burlap table runner, with no sewing involved. I was very happy to find some simple instructions here and it turned out great. It is the perfect soft, yet rustic touch for my Thanksgiving decor.

I used 2 1/2 yards of soft burlap fabric. Step 1 {cut desired width and length - I used an old table runner as a pattern}. Step 2 {pull threads to fray side edges and ends of cut fabric}. Step 3 {iron and use fray guard if needed - mIne seems fine so far}.

I am using this on my kitchen table, but may end up using it on the dining room table, for Thanksgiving. I do have some fabric left over, and may make something different for that table. It will be fun to play with the fabric between now and Thanksgiving and see what looks pretty :-)

I also changed the Halloween decorations for a few Thanksgiving turkeys and signs. This is one of my favorites, because it helps us remember the reason for the holiday.

My weekend was very fun and busy and I am happy to report Melissa and the MSU Pompon team won the Collegiate High Kick Championship for the 6th straight year. I will have some fun photos tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

  8. The tablerunner looks great -- I'm so glad burlap has come back into popularity. Where were you able to buy soft burlap? My only issue with the stuff is how stiff it is and all the fibers. It makes me sneeze!

Congrats to your daughter winning the competition -- AWESOME!

  11. Hopped over from Katherine's Favorite Things. Love the table runner. Decorating my dining table is the one indulgence I have. Couldn't help thinking about stenciling leaves on it. Just an idea.
