Thoughts for Thursday...flowers, books, food, etc.

Things I am thinking about today.

  • I am trying to keep my flowers looking pretty, but wow, they need a lot of water lately. Thankfully, there are some that love the sun and heat. I am liking this pretty, purple salvia in this sunny spot by my driveway.
  • Isn't this sign the best? Give me a good book, a comfortable chair in a backyard flower garden and there is not much else I need to make my day happy. Of course, I don't go to the actual library and get actual books anymore. But, I love my Kindle library of books and the Amazon online bookstore, with any book I want - only a click away. I miss the actual library though. Libraries and the smell of books bring back great memories of childhood summers spent there and the beginning of my love of reading.

  • I have mentioned before that with Type 2 Diabetes, I must eat healthy and eat small meals and snacks throughout the day. One snack that I am obsessed with and can't be without in my refrigerator, is greek yogurt. My favorite brand is Chobani. It is a great choice for anyone, but especially a diabetic looking for a high protein, low carb snack. My favorite flavors are lemon, peach, mango and pineapple. The pineapple flavor tastes just like cheesecake :-)
  • I have been looking at these Caprese Pops on my Pinterest recipe board for weeks now. They look so pretty and easy to make, but I haven't had an occasion to make them yet. I think I need to have a party soon, just so I can see how they taste. Have a great Thursday!

  2. Hi Vicki

Cicero was right - a garden and a book makes life perfect - and a glass of wine and someone to share it with.

Love these caprese pops - going to have to try that one. I've made something similar by skewering the ingredients and grilling them for a couple of minutes - just long enough to start melting the cheese. Then a drizzle of balsamic glaze - yummy.

  3. I love Salvia I have several bunches in my garden as well. And Amen to Cicero & Kindle books - they are perfect for when you get that reading itch but the library is closed!

Chobani yogurt is made in the area here & I'm always hearing how good is it. (I don't like yogurt.)

  8. I am absolutely obsessed w/ that yogurt these days! I'm Insulin Resistant & it is so hard to find low carb snacks. My favorite is the mango & blueberry. I didn't care for strawberry banana but i love all the others i tried! I haven't tried the lemon or pineapple yet, though!! :)

  9. Hi, Vicki, and welcome to blogging.
Thanks so much for coming by and following...I am following you right back...maybe we'll meet in the middle and you can give me a handful of those pretty purple flowers. I, in turn, will bring you some of your Greek Yogurt.:))
    HUGS, bj

oops, sweetheart, you have word verification on. Most bloggers hate it so much as it is time consuming...many will not leave comments. Do you know how to turn it off?
Go to your SETTINGS, click on COMMENTS, go down just a bit and you will see WORD VERIFICATION...you just click NO...Blogger has great Spam control that you will need to empty fairly often. It works just great for catching spam so the word verif. thingy isn't needed. :)

  14. I am all about the Chobani Black Cherry - love to start my day with that. I have come to love my Kindle too, I was dragged kicking and screaming to it, but now I would miss it if it were gone. I still go to the bookstore and library to get ideas of what to download. And with Kindle you can still borrow from the library, but I do like to be around all those books! Ann

  16. Hi Vicki, I love Salvia! However, we have been put on water restrictions and my gardens are starting to suffer a little. I cut my Salvia back and now new little blooms are starting to appear. I have not heard of that brand of yogurt. It sound yummy. I am going to look for it. My oldest daughter is type 1 diabetic. Has been since she was 11. I think she would love it also. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup. I am now following you.
    Hugs,
    Jann
